In an official report council officers from Southwark Council proposed a plan to build a tram depot in an area in Peckham town centre, South London, which they inaccurately described as derelict. It is, in fact, an area that is thriving with many businesses, a community of artist’s studios and a number of African churches amongst others things.
‘The Ballad of Rye Lane’ is a record of the area showing the people who are using the space for a number of reasons, but also tells a larger story about the changing face of the cityscape that is London, and the people that can often be overlooked.
